On telling the truth - "From a moral standpoint, I believe in it. But you also have to get elected. And there's no way a Republican is going to beat a Democrat when the Republican is saying, 'We're going to cut your Social Security' and the Democrat is saying, 'We're going to keep it and give you more."

  • 1989: In a controversial case that's been characterized as a modern-day lynching, four black teenagers and one Latino teenager - the "Central Park Five" - were accused of attacking and raping a jogger in New York City. Trump immediately took charge in the case, running an ad in local papers demanding, "BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY. BRING BACK OUR POLICE!" The teens' convictions were later vacated after they spent seven to 13 years in prison, and the city paid $41 million in a settlement to the teens. But Trump in October 2016 said he still believes they're guilty, despite the DNA evidence to the contrary.

Donald Trump's campaign on Wednesday denied a report that said the Republican presidential nominee had repeatedly asked an international foreign policy expert why the U.S. couldn't use nuclear weapons.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough claimed that the expert, who he did not name, advised the real estate mogul earlier this year during an hour-long briefing in which Trump had allegedly asked about using nuclear weapons three times, Scarborough said on Morning Joe.     - Time Magazine

Mueller is investigating whether the president intimidated witnesses or sought to end the investigation, according to the report. The interest in the president's posts on Twitter is part of a broader inquiry that includes misleading statements from the White House and the dangling of pardons to possible witnesses.          - CNBC

President Donald Trump bluntly declared that his attorney general should terminate "right now" the federal investigation into the campaign that took him to the White House, a newly fervent attack on the special counsel's investigation that could imperil his presidency. Trump also assailed the trial, just underway, of his former campaign chairman by the special counsel's team.       - Business Insider   Click here for more.
